What is The Unpyn Academy?
The Unpyn Academy is an English training academy. We specialise in English Proficiency Exams — IELTS, PTE Academic, OET, and Duolingo English Test — and conversational programmes including Business English and Everyday English. We follow a 1:1 training model and offer both online and offline (Ernakulam, Kerala) sessions.
Who are your trainers?
Our faculty are TESOL/TEFL certified with exam-specific expertise. All trainers are vetted for subject knowledge and teaching ability before joining the academy.
Where are you located?
Offline classes are held in Ernakulam, Kerala. Online training is available to students across all of India.
How do I get started?
Book a free demo class via WhatsApp or the contact form on any course page. The first session is completely free — no commitment required.
What happens in the free demo class?
A 45–60 minute session where we understand your goal, assess your current level, and build your study plan. There is no charge and no pressure to continue.
What is the difference between IELTS Academic and General Training?
Academic is for university admissions and professional registration. General Training is for skilled migration, work visas, and some family visa routes. Listening and Speaking are identical in both. Reading and Writing differ in format and difficulty. We train both — and confirm which one you need in your first session.
What Cambridge books do you use for IELTS?
We use the official Cambridge IELTS series (Books 9 through 18) — the same materials used by official test centres. These contain real past exam papers published by Cambridge Assessment English. No third-party substitutes.
What is PTE Academic — and what does PTE stand for?
PTE stands for Pearson Test of English. PTE Academic is a computer-based English proficiency exam developed by Pearson. Unlike IELTS, PTE has no human examiner — Speaking and Writing are assessed by AI, which means results are available within 48 hours. Accepted by thousands of universities globally and by Australian and UK immigration authorities.
How is PTE Academic different from IELTS?
PTE is fully computer-based with AI scoring; IELTS uses human examiners for Speaking and Writing. PTE results arrive in 48 hours vs up to 13 days for IELTS, and you can retake PTE every 5 days with no annual cap. Both tests are equally valid for most purposes — we help you decide which suits you better.
What is OET and who is it for?
The Occupational English Test is designed specifically for healthcare professionals — nurses, doctors, pharmacists, physiotherapists, and allied health. Accepted for registration by the NMC and GMC (UK), AHPRA (Australia), NMBI (Ireland), MCNZ (New Zealand), and others. If you are planning to work in healthcare abroad, OET is the most relevant test for you.
How is OET Writing different from other English tests?
OET Writing is profession-specific. You are given a case note and asked to write a referral, discharge summary, or transfer letter appropriate to your healthcare role. The letter must select relevant clinical information, use appropriate medical register, and maintain a professional tone. It is the single hardest OET skill to self-study — 1:1 feedback on each letter makes the biggest difference.
What is the Duolingo English Test — and is it widely accepted?
The Duolingo English Test (DET) is an online, at-home English proficiency test accepted by over 4,000 universities across the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Europe, and beyond. Before registering, we confirm whether your specific institution accepts it and what score they require.
How is the Duolingo English Test different from IELTS or PTE?
Three main differences: it is taken entirely at home (no test centre), it costs around $65 — significantly cheaper than IELTS or PTE — and results arrive in 48 hours. The format is adaptive, shorter (~60 minutes), and uses question types unlike anything in IELTS or PTE.
Is Business English just Spoken English under a different name?
No. Spoken English focuses only on speaking. The Business English Programme covers every professional scenario — written communication, presentations, negotiations, meetings, and professional presence. It is built around the specific situations in your career, not a generic curriculum.
Do you tailor the Business English course to my specific industry?
Yes. Your programme is built around your role, your industry, and the actual scenarios you face. A nurse in a management role needs different language than a software engineer presenting to clients. We don't use generic material — we design around you from day one.
Is the Everyday English Programme the same as Spoken English classes?
It goes beyond that. Spoken English focuses only on speaking. The Everyday English Programme covers all four skills — Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking — because real confidence comes from handling any situation in English, not just verbal ones.
I've tried English courses before and they didn't work. Why will this be different?
Most courses are pre-recorded, generic, or taught in batches where your specific gap never gets addressed. Our sessions are live, 1:1, and built entirely around you. Your trainer adjusts in real time every class and keeps going until your doubt is cleared. Book a free demo and experience the difference before spending a single rupee.
